Information for Parents including Parent PIN

The template below is designed to provide the basic framework of a communication to Parents regarding their role in your Selection Process.

Please note that this is a template only and designed to be used as a guide by your school and requires tailoring to your school's specific event details and requirements.

 
Notes for the Parent Template



This template is designed for use when you include the function to require Parents to enter a PIN which enables them to approve their child’s Selections. In order to use this, you must have the Parent PIN Function added as part of your Selection Process and include the PIN code as part of your data upload (as described here).

Remember that you must make sure that the Parent PINs are fixed values (i.e., not a formula if you click on the cells), otherwise you may have some major login issues.


The fields in green are for you to fill in with the appropriate details for your school's event.
Replace the green text with the appropriate information. 


The fields in red are for you to use with a mail merge.
To use this template with a mail merge you should have a copy of the Parent names (not part of the SSO data), and the Parent PINs (you uploaded in your Student data), to populate these fields.

Parents cannot set/reset their own PINs (unlike students) so you must make sure you have uploaded and tested these before sending the communication, to make sure it’s all working as expected.

If you are pre-allocating Student PINs, you'll just need to replace the text in the instructions to tell them to retrieve their login details via email by using the Clock here to reset your password option on the login screen.

Otherwise the suggested text is:

Your Login Code is: (StudentCode). 
Your Password is: (StudentPIN).

...and merge in the values for these fields.
