Setting Up Pathways
Students will, by default, see all parts of the Selection Process.
However, there may be some Selections that should only be restricted to certain Students. SSO will allow you to only show a Section, based on a Selection made in a previous Section.
To bring this into a real-world application, Students are often asked to choose a pathway in Year 11. In SSO, the Student needs to select their pathway from a list of Selections (such as ATAR, General, VET etc. just as they would select a Course). This Selection is turned into a trigger to see a Section that has the criteria applied for their chosen pathway. If the Student doesn't choose the required Selection, they will not see that Section (Pathway in this case).
Each Section can have one or more Selections that will make it visible, or if the Section can be seen by everyone (such as making an appointment, recording a Parent PIN, getting assistance, etc) you don't have to set anything up for it.
To set this up in SSO, select the Section (ATAR Pathway in this case) in the Navigation pane on the left. At the top of the page, click the Settings tab, in the white area. Under ‘Selections required to see this Section’, you need to choose the Selection (Welcome > Pathway > ATAR) that will allow Students to see the Section.
The dropdown list displays all earlier Selections available before the Section you're working on.
It maps the location in the format: Section > Instruction > Selection
Remember to select Add once you’ve selected the entry from the drop-down list.
If the pathway you're setting up has more than one Selection that should trigger the pathway, you can add multiple Selections (one at a time), and any choosing any one of the triggers will reveal the Section to the Student.
